Semicolon Saturday

I've been meaning to blog about this for a couple of weeks, but with getting through all the wraps ups of GreazeFest I hadn't quite got around to it. However, with the very sad news yesterday of the passing of The Pizz, now seems like a very fitting time to discuss why you need to use a semicolon rather than a full stop.

A semicolon is used where the author of a sentence could’ve ended the sentence, but chose not to. The author is you, and the sentence is your life.

Saturday September 12, Old Skool Tattoo and Barber Shop is holding Semicolon Saturday, a charity even to support Pathways to Resilience Trust. The day aims to broaden the knowledge of the community and remove the stigma that surrounds depression, anxiety and suicide prevention in the wider community.

The semicolon is to represent and spread the awareness of suicide prevention, depression, anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). All semicolon tattoo's on the day are $50, with an aim to raise over $1000, on top of the $600 already raised. Lets hope we can knock that figure out of the park!

Bring your friends, your family, your work colleagues, or anyone you wish and get a semicolon tattoo to help support the cause! There will be some amazing raffles, a sausage sizzle, cupcakes, music, giveaways and more, with it all being donated to Pathways to Resilience Trust.

The Pathways to Resilience Trust is a charitable organisation established in Brisbane with the specific aim of promoting social and emotional learning and resilience in children, adolescents and families and to assist in the prevention of anxiety, depression and youth suicide.

The event will be from 10am to 4pm at Old Skool Tattoo and Barber Shop in Springwood.

If this day helps save one life, then you have made a difference!
